Students in grades K-6 are invited to have fun while learning at Kids'
College, a summer program at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf
Road. An "early bird" discount is available to parents and guardians
who meet registration deadlines.
Classes are offered in five one-week sessions from July 10 through
Aug. 10, and meet for three hours Monday through Thursday. Courses
featured the week of July 31 include:
Glues,
Brews, and Goos (KIDE 74-32) allows students entering kindergarten
and first grade to make their own invisible ink, bubble solutions,
putty, and slime. Course fee is $105.
Spelling Bee (KDES 94-32) helps to strengthen spelling
skills for youngsters entering second and third grade. Course fee
is $105.
From Pencils to Paint (KDES 14-32) teaches fourth,
fifth, and sixth grade students various art techniques. Course fee
is $113.
Other
classes include Word Workshop (KDES 96-32), My
First Sentence Book (KDIE 02-32), Earth Science (KDES
83-32), Physics I (KDES 30-32), Constructing
a Paragraph (KIDS 93-32), Intermediate Chess
(KDIE 05-32), and Shark Science (KIDS 30-32).
