Parents
of kindergarten through sixth grade students can still register for
Kids' College, a summer enrichment program at Oakton Community College,
1600 E. Golf Road. Classes are offered in one-week sessions starting
July 19, and meet for three hours Monday through Thursday. The final
class session begins Aug. 9.
For youngsters
entering first grade, Reading for First Grade provides activities
to enhance reading. This class meets 1:20 - 4:20 p.m., July 26-29.
Course fee is $110.
Campus
Biology allows second and third grade students to explore the
great outdoors with a naturalist. This course meets 1:20 - 4:20 p.m.,
July 26-29. Course fee is $110.
Explaining
Science, for youths entering kindergarten and first grade, provides
opportunities for students to conduct experiments including making
water music, lemon soap, and soda rockets. This course meets 9 a.m.
- 12 p.m., Aug. 2-5. Course fee is $110.
Children
entering kindergarten and first grade in the fall also may sign up
for Spanish, Italian, Science, and Glues,
Brews and Goos.
Other
classes designed for second and third graders include Physics 1,
Reading and Questioning, Geology, Archeology,
and Pocket Poems.
Fourth,
fifth, and sixth graders also may choose from Cartooning, Mastering
Fractions, and Shark Science.
