Oakton Hosts Kindergarten Seminar
Parents of preschool children are invited to attend a free seminar, "What to Expect in Kindergarten," 7 - 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Oakton Community College's Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Sponsored by the Oakton Community College Early Childhood Education Center and the Family Involvement Group, "What to Expect in Kindergarten," features a panel of teachers from a variety of local schools, plus parents who currently have children enrolled in kindergarten. Discussion topics will include social and emotional readiness; learning experiences; and expectations. In addition, teachers will provide tips to help parents prepare their children and themselves for a successful transition from preschool to kindergarten.
Childcare for the evening is available at a cost of $4 per child. For more information, contact Connie Porteous at 847-635-1441.
