Oakton Art Student Honored

Oakton Community College freshman Jude Kitts of Glenview is one of five Midwest students recognized for artwork submitted in the First Annual Fine Arts Finals Midwest Scholarship Competition.

Kitts' entry Old Glory, an acrylic canvas painting of the American flag, received an honorable mention. Only five awards were given in the juried competition, consisting of drawings, paintings, sculptures, digital art, and graphic designs. The contest was open to public and private college and university students in 12 Midwestern states.

The competition promotes talented emerging collegiate artists and acknowledges excellence in artistic achievement. Winners were selected based on quality, originality, and creativity of their work. Winning entries may be viewed at www.fineartfinals.com.
