NEW COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP MAKES COLLEGE MORE ACCESSIBLE

Attending college this spring just got a lot easier due to a unique community partnership between Oakton Community College and High School District 207. The Oakton@Maine program gives students, teachers, parents and community residents the opportunity to take both credit and non-credit college courses at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, in Des Plaines.

This unique educational initiative was designed to increase access to education, provide multi-generational learning opportunities and expand professional development for teachers by bringing together students, parents and teachers in a learning community.

Credit course offerings for the spring 2002 semester include Astronomy (PHY 115); College Success Seminar (COL 100); Law Enforcement (LAE 101); Speech (SPE 103); and World Religions (PHL 205). Non-credit offerings include the ACT and Prairie State Achievement Exam Victory Course; SAT Preparation Course; English as a Second Language, Conversation I and II; and Computer Training in Microsoft Word and Excel. All courses are conveniently scheduled for Saturday mornings.

For more information about the Oakton@Maine program, consult the Oakton Class Schedule or call the Admissions and Enrollment Management Office at (847) 635-1629.
