Susan
M. Maltese, Oakton Community College professor of library services
and chair of library faculty, is the winner of the 2005 EBSCO Community
College Learning Resources Leadership Award, the Association of College
and Research Libraries (ACRL) announced.
The
award honors significant achievement in the advocacy of learning resources,
as well as professional leadership in organizations that support community,
junior, and technical colleges. A citation and $500, donated by EBSCO
Information Services, will be presented to Maltese Saturday, June
25, at the American Library Association (ALA) annual conference in
Chicago.
"Susan has participated in library associations throughout her career,"
said Alice Lubrecht, award committee chair. "She has been active in
the ACRL's Community and Junior College Libraries Section since its
inception and has held almost every leadership position available."
A
division of the American Library Association, the Association of College
and Research Libraries represents 12,000 academic and research librarians
and interested individuals. ACRL is the only individual membership
organization in North America that develops programs, products and
services to meet the unique needs of academic and research librarians.
