Modern Language Classes Begin Aug. 26 at Oakton Community College

Learning another language brings immense opportunities, especially since technology has made the world an international chat room accessible by the click of a mouse.

Begin studying a modern language now at Oakton Community College, where credit classes in French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, and Spanish are offered in the fall semester beginning Aug. 26. Students also can enroll in a Mandarin Chinese class through a distance learning arrangement with the College of Lake County.

Video clips, course-related Web sites, and computer study modules supplement the traditional classroom experience. Day, evening, weekend, and media-based classes are available at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, and at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

For more information, contact Marguerite Solari, professor and chairperson of modern languages, at (847) 376-7012 or by e-mail at solari@oakton.edu. Visit www.oakton.edu to see a complete list of classes, programs, and events scheduled at both Oakton campuses.
