The
Koehnline Museum of Art at Oakton Community College is the recipient
of a $1,530 grant from the Illinois Arts Council, College officials
said.
The
grant, obtained by curator Nathan Harpaz, will partially fund an exhibition
catalog for Convergence: Jewish and African American Artists
in Depression-era Chicago, which opens Thursday, Feb.
7, 2008 and runs through Friday, March 28. This exhibition documents
the cooperative spirit that existed between Jewish and African American
artists during the 1930s.
Located
on Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, the KMA is named
for William A. Koehnline, who served as the College's first president
from 1969 to 1984.
Museum
hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. - 4
p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 847-635-2633, or visit www.oakton.edu/museum.
