LEARN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC AT OAKTON


Trace the development of various music styles, past and present, by registering for Music Literature and History, a three-credit-hour course at Oakton Community College. The class meets from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Aug. 27, at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Rd.

Music Literature and History examines the styles, literature and musical concepts in each of the commonly accepted music periods in the history of Western civilization. The course meets a general education requirement in humanities at Oakton and is an approved Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) course for transfer to participating Illinois colleges and universities.

In-person registration is Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakton's Des Plaines campus and at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie. The campuses are closed from Friday through Sunday during the summer.

Students who have applied to or have attended Oakton within the last three years may use the Touch-Tone registration system on Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To register by phone, dial (847) 635-1616 and refer to the computer ID number listed by the course title in the Fall Credit Class Schedule.
