Natya
Dance Theatre opens the spring 2007 Performing Arts at Oakton season
with a traditional performance of South Asian dance, 2 p.m., Sunday,
Jan. 21, at the College's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.
The
internationally-acclaimed troupe based in Chicago performs works based
on Bharata Natyam, a leading form of classical dance in India. As
part of its mission to use the arts as an agent for understanding
among diverse cultures and people of all ages, Natya Dance has performed
at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Avignon Festival
in Paris.
Tickets
are $13 for general admission; $11 for students and seniors; and $9
