The Board of Trustees of Oakton Community College
has named Carl Costanza interim vice president for business and finance,
effective Monday, Sept. 1. The appointment was announced July 15 at
the District 535 board's monthly meeting.
Also appointed were Renee Kozimor, director of software
and user services, effective Friday, Aug. 1; and Elizabeth Owolabi,
associate dean for student learning, starting Monday, Aug. 11.
While serving in the interim post, Costanza will
continue as executive director of campus facilities and operations,
a position he has held since 2007. The Park Ridge resident joined
Oakton in 1981 as director of campus support services at the Skokie
campus. He also has served as director of business services at the
Des Plaines campus and director of facilities. Costanza has a master's
degree in policy studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Kozimor, a resident of Hawthorn Woods, comes to Oakton
with extensive experience in project management, product development,
and implementation in an educational setting. For the past 12 years
she has worked as a consultant for R2 Software. She recently helped
Oakton in the successful implementation of new student and financial
information systems. Kozimor has a master's degree in chemical engineering
from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Owolabi, a resident of Libertyville, has more than
15 years experience in an administrative and supervisory capacity
in higher education, industry, and government. She most recently served
as the director of the Center for Personal Enrichment at College of
Lake County. She also worked as an assistant to the senior program
and policy analyst at the College of Medicine at the University of
Illinois at Chicago and as a senior instructor for the Ontario Police
College. She holds a doctorate degree in education from Wayne State
University and a master's degree in education from the University
of British Columbia.
The administrators were selected as candidates of
choice following national search efforts and a rigorous interview
process.
Trustees meet once a month at Oakton's Des Plaines
campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. The next meeting is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Oakton Community College offers associate degree
and certificate programs for students preparing to earn a bachelor's
degree at a four-year college or university, as well as those preparing
for employment in a variety of careers. Oakton is accredited by The
Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association,
Illinois Community College Board, and American Association of Community
Colleges.
