OAKTON APPOINTS NEW DEAN OF MATHEMATICS AND TECHNOLOGIES


Oakton's board of trustees recently approved the appointment of Joe Kotowski as dean of the Division of Mathematics and Technologies, effective March 18. He will replace Ed Garcia, who is retiring at the end of the academic year.

Kotowski has been a full-time mechanical design faculty member since 1992 and previously served as chairperson for the departments of engineering, manufacturing, and mechanical design/CAD. In his new role, Kotowski will oversee various departments, including Engineering, Architecture, Computer Technologies and Information Systems, Construction Management, and the Machine Technology Apprenticeship program, among others.

Kotowski earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois, and his master of science degree from Northwestern University. He lives with his wife and two children in Chicago.
