Oakton Names Interim Athletic Director
Bruce Oates is appointed the interim athletic director at Oakton Community College, officials announced.
While serving as interim athletic director, Oates will continue his role as director of registration and records, a position he has held since 2002. Prior to joining Oakton, Oates was assistant director of registration and records at Northern Illinois University. He holds a master’s degree in industrial management and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from NIU.
Oates replaces Dave Cole, whose contract was terminated June 24 by the District 535 Board of Trustees.
Oakton Community College offers associate degree and certificate programs for students preparing to earn a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university, as well as those preparing for employment in a variety of careers. Oakton is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association, Illinois Community College Board, and American Association of Community Colleges.
