People and Places Lecture Series

See the world through the eyes of seasoned travelers by enrolling in the People and Places lecture series offered by Oakton's Emeritus program. The six-week series meets from 1-2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning Oct. 10, at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.

The series begins with Bavaria, a look at the history and diversity of this beautiful area of Germany. India, the Oct. 17 lecture, features a slide show presentation about the northwestern Gugerat State, which is known for its strict practice of Hinduism. Splendors of St. Petersburg, Russia, scheduled for Oct. 24, focuses on the majestic museums, palaces and architecture of the city.

Historic Athens and the beautiful islands of the Aegean Sea are some of the sites featured in the Oct. 31 lecture, Greece. A visual tour of the fascinating city of Jerusalem follows on Nov. 7. At the final lecture on Nov. 14, Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, the natural wonders and spectacular scenery of these national parks will be highlighted.

In-district residents age 60 and older pay $25 for the lecture series; those who live out-of-district or who are under age 60 pay $30. Proof of age and residency must be provided at registration. For more information, call (847) 635-1414.
