Photography students can enjoy a unique perspective on the "Crescent
City" by enrolling in an Oakton Community College field study to New
Orleans, scheduled May 20 - 28.
"This
year's field study takes on greater significance because of what has
happened in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina," said Judy Langston,
professor of art and graphic design. "We will visit some of the locations
students have photographed on previous trips, to observe the changes
that have taken place. We won't be visiting any dangerous areas, however."
The
Architecture and Cemeteries of New Orleans: A Photographic Journey
(ART 290) gives film and digital photography students the
opportunity for extended photography of historic New Orleans locations,
including the French Quarter and St. Louis Cemetery. Enrollment is
limited to 12 students. Upon return to campus, students will produce
a distinct body of work consisting of traditional or digital photographic
prints.
