Local Pianists Perform at Oakton

Oakton Community College spotlights two local talents when Beatriz Levi and Garfield Sallman present their Duo Piano Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, in the Footlik Theater at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road.

Levi, a Skokie resident, and Sallman, of Des Plaines, are featured members of the Oakton Six Piano Ensemble. Their afternoon performance of piano duets will present works from a classical and contemporary repertoire, including Mozart, Barber, Bach, and Spanish composer Manuel de Falla. A reception with light refreshments follows the concert.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for students and seniors, and $10 for group and Partner in Performance (PIP) rate. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. The purchase of one full-price ticket to any of the eight programs in the fall 2002 performance schedule earns a free PIP membership to Oakton's Performing Arts Center and reduced ticket prices to other shows.

Other shows in the fall 2002 season at Oakton's Performing Arts Center include Late Night Catechism, one of the longest running comedies in Chicago theater history (Sept. 28); Never the Sinner, a courtroom drama about the infamous Leopold and Loeb case (Oct. 11-13 and 18 -20); Mileva Einstein, the North American premiere of a play by renowned Eastern European playwright Vida Ognjenovic (Nov. 8-10 and 15-17); Waiting for Godot, Samuel Beckett's minimalist drama (Nov. 19 -24); and Resident Alien, an intergalactic comedy (Dec. 6 -8 and 13 -15).
