Oakton Six Piano Ensemble Sets Audition Dates
Pianists are invited to audition for Oakton Community College's Six Piano Ensemble, a unique musical showcase. Auditions are 7 - 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11, and Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Oakton's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, in Room 1360. Music is provided, and candidates also may perform a prepared piece.
Founded in 1980 and conducted by Glenna Sprague, professor and coordinator of music at Oakton, the Six Piano Ensemble has been invited to play at this year's annual convention of the Texas Music Teachers Association, among other prestigious venues. In recent years, the group has performed at the Hawaii Music Teachers Association in Honolulu; the International Conference of the College Music Society in Vienna, Austria; Chicago Civic Opera House; and the Music Teachers National Association national conference in Spokane, Washington.
