Chicago
resident Steve Pratt is the new men's basketball coach at Oakton
Community College, athletic director Dave Cole has announced.
As
a coach in Vermont, Pratt led Hazen High School to the state championship
in 1996 and won two state AAU titles. He also was the assistant men's
basketball coach at Johnson State College in Vermont, where he played
collegiate basketball.
Pratt
is the personal trainer for several professional basketball players,
including former Chicago Bulls player and NBA All-Star Elton Brand,
and Ruth Riley, who led the Notre Dame women's basketball team to
the 2001 NCAA Championship. In addition, Pratt prepares collegiate
basketball players for the NBA draft and teaches the game of basketball
to people of all ages, starting at the kindergarten level.
"Steve's coaching skills are phenomenal," says Cole. "Oakton is extremely
fortunate to have someone of his caliber coaching here and our players
will learn a great deal from his extensive basketball knowledge."
