An exhibition showcasing the work of Cuban-born artist
Paul Sierra is scheduled at the Koehnline Museum of Art at Oakton
Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines, starting Thursday,
Sept. 4.
Paul Sierra: Wrecked features Sierra’s recent
paintings of violent car accidents, each framed in luminous landscapes
absent of human figures. Sierra’s Latin roots are artistically
and emotionally intertwined with influences from North American art
and culture. He perceives art as a tool to transform the chaos of
his life as an immigrant into a positive vision.
The public is invited to a free reception with refreshments, 5 –
8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 4. This free exhibit runs through Friday,
Oct. 17.
The Koehnline Museum of Art is open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday
through Friday, and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday. For more details,
