Travel
the famed Silk Road of China on a study tour sponsored by Oakton Community
College. Two trips are scheduled in 2006; a 14-day tour departs on
April 26, and a 19-day tour leaves on July 30.
Start
in Beijing and travel the world's oldest international highway, once
traveled by Marco Polo, and learn about the religious art, belief
systems, and specialized goods of India, Central Asia, and the Middle
East. Next, visit the city of Xi'an and meet with Chinese students
at a local university. Along the journey, travelers will meet with
residents of Kashgar and share lunch with a Uygar family. Finally,
explore the sounds, smells, and excitement of the bustling markets
of Urumqi. Additional itineraries also are available.
