Oakton Six Piano Ensemble Schedules Auditions

Be part of a unique musical experience as a member of the Oakton Six Piano Ensemble. Auditions for this internationally acclaimed touring group are scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 9 and 10, in Room 1360 at Oakton Community College's Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road. Music is provided, but those interested in auditioning may also bring a prepared piano piece.

Membership in the Six Piano Ensemble is an excellent opportunity for pianists who enjoy performing with others and who wish to expand their repertoires. Conducted by Glenna Sprague, professor and coordinator of music at Oakton, the Ensemble performs classical, jazz, ragtime, and popular arrangements.

The only musical group of its kind in the nation, the Ensemble has performed at the International Conference of the College Music Society in Vienna, Austria; Chicago Civic Opera House; the National-Louis University Performing Artist Series; and the Music Teachers National Association Convention and various MTNA state conventions.

The Six Piano Ensemble will have the opportunity to perform in the coming year at various locations around the country, including Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va.; the "Sounds of Our City" program at Chicago's Harold Washington Library Center; and Salisbury University in Maryland. In addition, the Ensemble has been invited to the 2005 National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy in Chicago.

For more information, call Glenna Sprague at 847-635-1905.
