The Oakton
Community College men's soccer team has earned its highest-ever national
ranking in the most recent National Junior College Athletic Association
Division I Men's Soccer Coaches Association Poll.
According
to the NJCAA poll released Sept. 13, the Raiders (5-0-2) were ranked
No. 13 in the nation. Oakton, the reigning Skyway Conference champion,
was ranked as high as No. 16 in polling last season.
This
year, Oakton boasts wins over two nationally ranked opponents, Lewis
& Clark Community College and Iowa Central Community College. The
Raiders also have dominated this season, posting five shutout wins
and outscoring opponents 25-3. The NJCAA lists Raider sophomore Adnan
Ejupovic seventh in the nation in scoring. The Foreman High School
alum has tallied 21 points this season, scoring eight goals and earning
five assists.
The Raiders
are coached by Steve Brody, who in 2003 was named NJCAA Coach of the
Year and Skyway Conference Coach of the Year.
Oakton
hosts Skyway Conference opponents McHenry County College at 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 14, and Springfield College at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept.
18.
