Explore Spain's Cultural Treasures on Oakton Tour

Journey to culture-rich Spain on a tour offered by Oakton Community College's travel/study program. Trips in 2004 are scheduled to depart in late April, June and October.

Visit the Royal Palace built by King Philip V, first Bourbon on the Spanish throne, on a walking tour of Madrid. Enjoy a morning journey to Toledo, a major center of learning during the sixth century, then return to Spain's capital for a special flamenco performance. Visit the world's largest art museum, the Prado, and view paintings by Goya, El Greco and Velazquez. Travelers also visit Seville, the capital of flamenco and backdrop to many famous operas.

In Jerez, learn the art of wine making at a sherry bodega, followed by a unique show at the famous Royal Andalusian Riding School. In Rute, visit an olive oil plant and the Museo del Anis, to explore the history of Anisette liquor. Enjoy dinner with local residents, providing a glimpse into their everyday lives and customs. Other highlights include Cordoba and the Mezquita, Granada's Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the Picasso Museum in Barcelona.
