Oakton Students Earn Academic Honor

Two Oakton Community College students, Ed McGrath of Glenview and Sarah Masri of Northbrook, have been named to the 2008 Phi Theta Kappa All-Illinois Academic Team, a division of the All-USA Team for community colleges.

Both McGrath and Masri will receive associate degrees at Oakton's 37th annual commencement on Tuesday, May 13. McGrath, an economics major with a 4.0 GPA, plans to continue his studies at Elmhurst College. Masri, a liberal arts major with a 3.89 GPA, intends to study nutrition at a four-year university.

Both students were honored Monday, April 21, at a ceremony in Springfield.

Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges. Academic team members are recognized for scholastic achievement, leadership, and volunteer work.
