Oakton Community College's Emeritus Program offers several Tai Chi Chih classes for everyone from the beginner to the expert. Students can learn 20 movements that are designed to increase and integrate your body's energy, and may help with sleep, depression, anxiety and other stress-related problems. These non-credit classes meet at the Ray Hartstein Campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Av., Skokie.Tai Chi Chih: Part I teaches the first ten movements, including the final pose. Session I (PED E30-71, Touch-Tone 05676) meets from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. on six Mondays, beginning Feb. 25. Session II (PED E30-72, Touch-Tone 07987) meets from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. on six Mondays, beginning April 8. The course fee for both sessions is $72.
Tai Chi Chih: Part II teaches the remaining nine movements and refines all the movements in the form. Students must have completed the first class to enroll. Session I (PED E30-73, Touch-Tone 08124) meets from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. on six Mondays, beginning Feb. 25. Session II (PED E30-74, Touch-Tone 08123) meets from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. on six Mondays, beginning April 8. The course fee for both sessions is $72.
Continuing Tai Chi Chih: For the Body that Wasn't Born Yesterday (PED E31-71, Touch-Tone 05670) helps students refine the movements they already know as well as learn new ones. This course meets from 11 a.m. - noon on twelve Mondays, beginning Feb. 25. The course fee is $144.
In-district students age 60 and older pay half the listed fee. Persons who have registered within the last five years may register using the Touch-Tone phone registration system. For more information about these and other Emeritus classes, call (847) 635-1414.
