Oakton Board of Trustees Approves 2002 Tax Levy

The Oakton Community College Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a 2002 tax levy that will increase tax bills for homeowners in Oakton's district by approximately 3.1 percent. The tax levy was approved during the board's regularly scheduled meeting on Dec. 17.

"This modest increase will allow Oakton to continue to provide quality education and services to residents of its district," said George L. Chirempes, vice president for business and finance.

Oakton's tax rate is one of the lowest for community colleges in Illinois. The 2002 levy of $29,660,000 is expected to increase the average homeowner's 2002 property tax bill by approximately $2.31, or just over 19 cents per month.
