The largest gathering of stock and customized Volkswagen and Audi automobiles in the Midwest, "Treffen 2003," is scheduled for Saturday, August 23, in Parking Lot D at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road. Sponsored by the Chicago Volkswagen Organization, the show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and features vendor demonstrations, raffle drawings, music, and a dunk tank. General admission is $3 per car.This year's "Treffen" (German for "get together") features a special appearance by Michael Schumacher's championship Ferrari, as part of a national tour to promote Formula One racing in the U.S. With more than 300 Volkswagen and Audi owners expected to participate, "Treffen 2003" also promises a large gathering of Corrados, known as the "Corrado Rush," as well as special awards to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Volkswagen GTI.
Event sponsors include VWVortex.com, Eurosport Accessories, Inc., and Virtual World Parts. Vendors include Kompressor Kanada, Moto Persona, Dub Werks, New Dimensions, VFC Engineering, Techtonics Tuning, Renn-Art, Anderson Limited, SNS Tuning, H&R Special Springs, The Tire Rack, VWEnthusiast.com, and The Original Famous Dave's.
