Euripides'
classic play, The Trojan Women, will be
presented Oct. 19 - 22, and Oct. 26 - 29, on the main stage of the
Performing Arts Center at Oakton Community College, 1600 E. Golf Road,
Des Plaines.
The
Trojan Women details the fate of the women of Troy, who are forced
into slavery by Greek warriors during the Peloponnesian War. Presented
here in a new translation by Nicholas Rudall, founder of Chicago's
Court Theater, the play is considered one of the earliest examples
of anti-war literature, showing both compassion for war's victims,
and contempt for its victors.
