Explore the Cultural and Historical Landmarks of Turkey

Experience Turkey's vibrant culture-from the bustling, modern city of Istanbul to the serene beauty of the Mediterranean coastline-on a tour sponsored by the Oakton Community College travel/study program. Three trips are scheduled for 2003: April 26 - May 10, June 21 - July 5, and Sept. 20 - Oct. 4.

In Istanbul, embark on a cruise of the Bosphorus Strait and view old wooden villas, marble palaces, and ancient fortresses along the shoreline. On the European side, visit the Topkapi Palace and see the spectacular treasures of the Ottoman Sultans. Other highlights include stops in Cappodocia, to visit rock-carved churches in the Goreme and Zelve Valleys; Konya, one of the world's oldest cities; and Aphrodisias, dedicated to the goddess of love and once known as a center for the arts.

Throughout the trip participants will sample native dishes at specially arranged meals and learn about the everyday lives and customs of the local people. For more information, including complete itineraries and prices, call Bea Cornelissen at 847-635-1812.
