Cheryl
Warmann, director of student financial assistance at Oakton
Community College, is the winner of the 2006 Midwest Association of
Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) Leadership Award for
the State of Illinois, MASFAA officials announced at the group's annual
conference, Oct. 15 - 18 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The award is presented each year to recognize the outstanding leadership
of a member from each of the nine MASFAA member states (Illinois,
Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, West Virginia,
and Wisconsin). Recipients must be current MASFAA members and have
made outstanding contributions to the financial aid profession at
the state and regional levels for at least the last seven years. Individuals
selected for this award must demonstrate high integrity and character,
as well as creative leadership; have inspired and encouraged others
to participate in professional development; and have been actively
involved in professional organizations.
During
fiscal year 2006, Oakton's financial aid office administered an estimated
$4 million in grants and scholarships, helping some 2,000 students
advance their education.
Warmann
joined Oakton's staff in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in political
science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a
master's degree in college student personnel from Loyola University
of Chicago.
