A leading Chinese authority on Jewish studies begins a national lecture
tour in January at Oakton Community College's Ray Hartstein Campus,
7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie.
Xu Xin, a professor of Jewish culture at Nanjing University in the
People's Republic of China, will speak 9:30 - 11 a.m., Wednesday,
Jan. 25, 2006. His lecture, "Israel through Chinese Eyes,"
examines the relationship between China and Israel since 1949.
President
of the China Judaic Studies Association, Xin was one of the first
Chinese to ever visit Israel. He is the author of Legends of the
Chinese Jews of Kaifeng and Anti-Semitism: How and Why,
as well as numerous articles on Judaic studies.
