Sculpture Invasion 2010

Event Image

Lovers of contemporary art, especially sculpture, are invited to the Des Plaines campus for Sculpture Invasion 2010, a juried exhibition featuring more than 40 works by members of Chicago Sculpture International.

Originally presented in 2007, Sculpture Invasion 2010 presents numerous large outdoor sculptures throughout the Oakton Sculpture Park, which includes more than 20 permanent works. Smaller sculptures and maquettes will be displayed indoors at the Koehnline Museum of Art.

Featured artists include John Adduci, whose 12-foot tall Wacko (2000) embodies a pirate ship sailing the South China Sea. Acclaimed works by Bill Moll, Terrance Karpowicz, Victoria Fuller, Neil Goodman and Eric Lindsey also are featured.

Believed to be the largest of its kind, this exhibition reflects the stylistic diversity that sculptural artists have embraced since the twilight of modernism. Formed in 2004, CSI’s more than 140 members work in all scales and mediums, from stone and steel to nylon and video.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday. From June to August, the museum operates under isummer hours, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
