Discover Big Doings from a Tiny World at Oakton’s Nanotechnician Conference

(October 6, 2015) Join college and high school faculty from around the Midwest as they share nanotechnology course materials, credential outlines, and assessment activities associated with nanotechnology curriculum by attending the 2015 Conference for Midwest Nanotechnician Programs. Sponsored by Oakton Community College, the event runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, at the Illinois Science + Technology Park Conference Center, 8045 Lamon Avenue, Skokie.

Enjoy presentations from leading professionals in nanotechnology who will provide insights and inspire discussions about opportunities in this exciting technology. Some of the speakers on hand include nanotechnology experts from Oakton, Purdue University, Chippewa Valley Technical College, Wheeling High School, and Dakota County Technical College.

Nanotechnology is the science of manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Increasingly common in the computer, energy, biotech, and transportation fields, nanotechnology can improve just about any process, tool, or piece of equipment. This process can even help doctors target specific cancerous cells for chemotherapy treatment, eliminating potential damage to healthy cells nearby.

Registration fees are $45 for faculty and $20 for students. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
