Top 10 of 2015: Des Plaines Early Childhood Center receives prestigious state award (7)

No. 7 among the top 10 Oakton stories for 2015 is the Oakton Des Plaines Early Childhood Center’s (ECC) receipt of the Gold Circle of Quality Award.

Earlier this year, the center earned the Gold Circle of Quality, the highest designation given by ExceleRate Illinois, the state’s new quality rating and improvement system for early learning and development providers. The award demonstrates a center’s continuous commitment to the families and children it serves.

Early Childhood Education is one of the most popular areas of study at Oakton, and each semester at least 10 students gain valuable hands-on experience working at an award-winning center. In addition, psychology and nursing students have the opportunity to conduct weekly observations at the facility.

Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, Oakton’s Des Plaines ECC provides full-day programs for 30 children, ages two to five, each semester.
