ISCC names five Owl basketball players to its All-Conference Team

(Feb. 22, 2016) The Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) named five Oakton Community College men’s and women’s basketball players (three women and two men) to its All-Conference Basketball Teams.

Sophomore forward Rebecca Bartnicki (Chicago, Guerin Prep) was chosen to the ISCC Women’s Basketball First Team, while freshman captain Mallory Gonzalez (Mount Prospect/Prospect) and freshman forward Atorena Michael (Lincolnwood, Niles West) earned spots on the conference’s second team.

“Becky has been a major asset to the team playing many 40-minute games,” said Women’s Basketball Head Coach Melissa Rauschenberg of Bartnicki, who earned first team honors for the second straight year. “Though Mallory and Atorena only played half the season, it’s an honor to have them recognized for their talent and effort. Mallory is an excellent athlete with an extremely high basketball IQ and court awareness, while Atorena took over the point guard role and plays very hard.”

On the men’s side, freshman guard Trae Stott (Louisville, Ky./Moore) was named to the ISCC Men’s Basketball First Team, and sophomore guard Mike Hoffman (Park Ridge, Maine South) was honored as a second team selection.

“Trae has developed as a player and a leader throughout the season,” said Men’s Head Coach Mick Reuter of his captain. “He really continued to grow as the conference season progressed. Mike has been our defensive rock all season. He consistently guards players bigger than himself and has done an excellent job.”
