Still time to register for fall classes at Oakton

(July 25, 2016) While it’s too early consider raking leaves, it’s not too late to register for fall classes at Oakton Community College. Sixteen-week classes begin Monday, Aug. 22, and classes are filling.

Oakton is ranked No. 33 among the best values for community colleges in the nation according to ValueColleges.com, which surveyed 1,700 community colleges nationwide for graduation and transfer rates, mid-level salaries for graduates and actual costs of attendance, to rank each school by return on investment.

Students who attend Oakton spend about a third as much to earn the same credits as those who attend traditional colleges or universities. According to a recent report prepared for the Illinois Community College Board, a 25-year-old Oakton graduate can expect an increase in lifetime earnings of approximately $724,000 more than someone with only a high school diploma. That’s a 56 percent increase over the total lifetime earnings of someone not completing a community college program.

Class listings may be found online at www.oakton.edu or in the “Fall 2016 Credit Class Schedule,” available at the Des Plaines (1600 E. Golf Road) and Skokie (7701 N. Lincoln Avenue) campuses. During Oakton’s summer hours—Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.—students can register in person at either campus. Those with existing applications may register online at my.oakton.edu.
