Oakton Educational Foundation Receives $42,500 Donation from Niles Township

(May 1, 2018) The Oakton Community College Educational Foundation received a generous donation of $42,500 from Niles Township to support college scholarships at a presentation Saturday, April 21, at the Niles Township Government Office, 5255 Main St., Skokie.

This recent gift, along with the $45,994 received by the organization in fall 2017, will allow Oakton to offer 25 scholarships to graduates of Niles North or Niles West High Schools, or Evanston Township High School graduates who reside in Skokie. Each scholarship is valued at $3,538 and will be offered for the 2018-2019 academic year.

“We’re extremely thankful of Niles Township’s continued support,” Oakton Foundation President Howard Singer said. “Niles Township is making a valuable investment in the future. These scholarships will impact the lives of many local residents by relieving some of the financial burden off of students to enhance their education.”

Both first-year and second-year students are eligible for the Niles Townships Scholarships as long as they have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and are enrolled full time.

“Niles Township is pleased to again partner with Oakton to make the higher-education dreams of young people in our community to become a reality,” Niles Township Superintendent Marilyn Glazer said.
