Oakton nursing students who took the practical nursing exam in 2009 had a first-time pass rate of 100 percent, compared to 86 percent nationally and 91 percent statewide, College officials report.
“We receive extremely positive feedback from institutions that hire Oakton nursing students,” says Sandra Kubala, RN, MSN, nursing chair. “These results indicate that our students work hard and are well prepared. It also shows our dedicated faculty is doing an excellent job training future nurses.”
In addition, Oakton nursing students who sat for the registered nursing exam in 2009 had a first-time pass rate of 95 percent, compared to 88 percent nationally and 91 percent statewide.
Oakton offers an associate degree in nursing that prepares students to work in a variety of health care settings. The program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc., and is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Illinois Board of Nursing. Upon successful completion of Oakton’s nursing program, students can sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
