| As vice president and director of Account
Management and Resource Planning, Global Software Group (GSG), at Motorola
(2001 to present), Henry is responsible for marketing GSG’s software
engineering capabilities to within Motorola Inc. With thousands of its
resources strategically located in twenty-four major cities globally,
GSG serves its clients in telecommunications, semiconductors, and computer
technology industries. Under Henry’s leadership, GSG has been
able to grow at a double digit rate despite low GDP growth and price
pressure from Asian countries. More importantly, Henry has developed
and automated a customer acquisition process, an innovated resources
forecasting, allocating, and tracking system, to sustain the continuous
growth of the organization.
Prior to GSG, Henry was vice president and director of Software Operations
at Motorola’s mobile handset division (1996 to 2001). At the handset
division, Henry was responsible for software development for all GSM
products and was crucial to the company’s campaign in transforming
its analogue product lines to digital. In 1999, Henry led Motorola to
become the first manufacturer to introduce the digital packet data cellular
phone which pioneered the common use of Internet on mobile phone. In
2000, his effort in common software platform for all handset products
resulted in substantial cycle time and cost reduction and subsequently
market share gains globally.
Before joining Motorola, Henry has held senior positions in marketing
and engineering at the Switching and Computer Telephony Division of
Rockwell International (1984 -1996). As director of international business
development at Rockwell, Henry was responsible for channel development,
strategic alliances, acquisitions, and divestiture initiatives. Under
Henry’s leadership, Rockwell expanded its call center products
from the U.S. and the U.K. to the rest of Europe. Henry was elected
the Engineer of The Year (out of 13,000 engineers) in 1989 for his chief
architect role for a nationwide computer telephony network. Prior to
Rockwell, Henry has held various positions as designer and manager for
digital switching networks at the AT&T Bell Laboratories (1980 –
1984) and the GTE Laboratories (1977 – 1980).
Among other community service activities, Henry taught evening classes
at The DuPage College, Elmhurst College, and Illinois Benedictine University
between 1982 and 1986. Henry is currently a member of the board for
the Asian Business Council (with over 3000 members) at Motorola. As
a board member, Henry advises on ABC’s strategies and special
events. Henry is a member of the Board of Overseers at the Rice Campus
of Illinois Institute of Technology.
Henry holds a Bachelors and a Masters of Science in computer science
from the University of Illinois at Urbana (1977) and the Illinois Institute
of Technology (1982) respectively. Henry is also a graduate of the Executive
MBA program from the University of Chicago (1994). |
