When you enroll in any Oakton course, including Online courses, you are automatically assigned a login ID and password for all Oakton technology access. This ID and password may be used to log into computers on campus, email, and log into an Online class. Your login ID consists of the first 4 letters of your last name followed by the last 4 digits of your social security number. Your password is your full 9-digit SS # (no dashes or spaces). All letters must be lower case. Examples:
(Figure 1. Student Login Examples) Your instructor will input your login ID
and password to your Online course at the beginning of the semester. If you change
your Oakton password, you must still continue to use your original password for
all WebCT activity. B) WebCT Global IDs WebCT is Oakton's Online course management software. The most recent versions of the program (2.0 and higher) require each individual student to create his own "Global ID" to set up "my WebCT." The purpose of a global ID is to allow a student to use a single ID and Password to access all WebCT classes in which he is enrolled and to make certain program features shareable between courses. When you log in to WebCT for your Oakton Online course, you will be prompted to enter your ID and password. Use your regular, pre-assigned Oakton ID and password as defined in the previous section. Upon successful first login, you will then be prompted to create your own WebCT global ID. Your Global ID and password must be the same as your regular Oakton ID and password. Warning: If it is discovered that your WebCT Global ID/password differs from your regular Oakton ID/password, you will be temporarily deleted from the class roster so that your global ID can be properly recreated and you will lose any work you have done.Follow the directions in the next section to log into your Online course and create your WebCT Global ID: C) How to set up my WebCT 1.
