Course Information
The course covers educational theory, communication skills, study skills,
and working with diverse students. The readings, case studies, discussion
forums, quizzes, and web site links focus on their application to tutoring.
Techniques, methods and approaches to improve learning are included. Tutoring
practice gives you an opportunity to try out these skills. You will be
paid for your tutoring time.
As a by-product of this course and tutoring practice, you may find that
you have improved your own learning process and grades!
After completing Oakton’s COLLEGE 103, you will be a certified, level
one, tutor. With this certification, you can tutor at other colleges and
universities. The College Reading and Learning Association certifies Oakton
Community College's tutoring program. This organization sets the goals
and standards of tutoring programs in colleges and universities.
