Positive:

Some Marsh Marigolds appearing in Blue Joint Grass area across from first Lot D entrance.

Deer exclosures – 2 Triostiums, Geraniums, Cow Parsnip, Red Trilliums emerged and spreading.

Hazelnuts – only ones on campus and the colony is slowly spreading – no fruit produced yet, may be too shady.

Negative:

(1996) Baby Buckthorns have exploded throughout, becoming dense and up to chest high.

(1996) Large areas have no seed bank – 75%?

(2002,2003,2004) Baby Buckthorns still a bad problem.

(2004) – Large areas still barren

Work to Do:
Work Completed:
Start Hazelnut propagation program (Too weak possibly due to excessive shade - will try rooting cuttings for other areas)
Garlic Mustard Control Pulling Garlic Mustard (2002,2003,2004)

Comments:

Area is very open where Buckthorn cut.  Where there are survivng plants, they are doing well, although being slowly swallowed again by Buckthorn

(2003 – 2004) Very degraded area, will need continual work.
