The Faculty Development Committee is charged with coordinating programs offered during fall/spring orientation weeks and faculty development seminars. Both academic and computing technology interests are represented under the umbrella of Faculty Development.
The committee is comprised of representatives from all divisions and the library. The committee meets four times per year. Our purposes include, but are not limited to;
- Develop orientation week themes and ideas for presentations
- Research needs for faculty development seminars
- Select faculty development seminars for the following year.
- Assist in recruiting presenters for orientation modules/faculty seminars
- Help advertise upcoming programs
- Select the winner of the "Lifelong Learner Award"
As of Fall 2006, the committee will solicit ideas from faculty-at-large for orientation module proposals and faculty seminars. The faculty development committee will be responsible for final selections for both orientation weeks and faculty seminars. Selections will be made on presentations that "best fit" selected themes and promote academic skills that will improve student learning.
A "Faculty Seminar" is a semester long program that either pays participants for attendance or assists full-time faculty into moving up in pay lanes, towards lane "E". Presently, the Faculty Development Committee is limited to approve two faculty seminars each fall and spring semester.
