Distance Learning and Media
Based Courses
Oakton's two campuses are connected
by interactive video equipment located in room 2546 at the Des
Plaines Campus and room C240 at the Ray Hartstein Campus. The
equipment provides opportunities for course sections to be offered
simultaneously at each campus and enables the college to teach
multiple sections with low enrollments.
These live courses are taught
using technology which allows students and teachers to see
and speak with each other in real-time video. Teacher and
classmates may not be in the same classroom, but they will
be able to see and hear each other, ask questions and participate
in class discussions. Students register for the class site
most convenient for them. |
 |
As the class schedule permits each semester, meetings
and special events using interactive video can be scheduled. Portable
equipment is available on the Des Plaines campus to connect to
a variety of spaces to off campus sites.
