Who Is Doing the Project?

Introduction:

The initiative to implement Banner at Oakton is a campus-wide collaborative effort involving many different departments. Together, many different individuals from many departments will need to work together. While many of the individuals involved will be from the Information Technology department or from the Registration and Records department, other key professionals from the Admissions, Advising and Counseling Center, Alliance office, and Business Office will also be actively involved, along with faculty, students, and specialists from other university offices.

Some members of the team are on the project nearly full-time. Still others contribute while holding down full-time assignments elsewhere in the college. Here’s information on those most closely involved. The individuals listed are only some of the many people who will be working on the project.

Banner Steering Committee:

The Banner Steering Committee has oversight over the many facets of this complex project.  You might say it’s the engine that keeps the wheels rolling.

Their charge is to be responsible for guiding the implementation from the overall Oakton institutional point of view, including policy issues, organizational resources, and process or system changes that may affect multiple areas.  They also ensure that decisions affecting the implementation of the software will be made in a rapid and efficient manner, minimizing delays in the implementation timeline.

Banner Application Development Team:

Equally important is the Banner Application Development Team. 

Their charge is to be responsible for ensuring that the system being implemented meets Oakton’s processing requirements, while continuously evaluating changes in these processes to provide improvements in current practices. SCT consultants will work with the Banner Application Development Team to ensure timely completion of all design and configuration activities and any other tasks related to a successful implementation.
