 Lab Equipment Reservations

Mobile Computers

Computers are available for use in standard classrooms on both the OCC campuses. They generally can be connected to displays such as video projectors or large data monitors. Depending on where they will be used, many computers can attach to the local area network.

To request a mobile computer for use on the Des Plaines campus, call x2627. For use on the Ray Hartstein campus, call x1431.

Arranging Lab Time

Classes needing lab time fall into several scheduling categories. Credit classes that are lab-based (or having an official lab segment in addition to lecture) are scheduled as a group several months before the semester begins. After these are set, A.L.L. courses are scheduled.

After that, credit courses that don't have an official lab segment but do want some regularly scheduled lab time can put in requests. The maximum amount of lab time allowable for such courses is approximately 1 hour per week during Spring and Fall semesters (Summer and interim sessions will reflect this limit as proportionately as possible). Such requests are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and I.T. can not be responsible for rolling them over from previous semesters nor, due to limited lab availibility, can it guarantee in any case that desired lab time or particular facilities will be available.

Starting at the beginning of each semester, requests for one-shot, single event or short series of events lab times will be accepted.

Please initiate these short-term lab requests by submitting the online Special Lab Request Form. Submitted requests will be managed by Cookie Ginsburg, x1711.

    Note:

    • Please be aware that there are generally fewer workstations in a computer lab than seats in a normal classroom. IT strongly discourages sharing workstations, but if there are no other options, call the lab supervisor where you will be meeting and make him or her aware.
    • Before entering the labs or booking time, please examine the lab guidelines. They apply to all users.
