Attaching Files to Outgoing Messages

When creating an outgoing message, you can attach other files to the message. These can be documents you created in other programs such as Word or Excel or most anything else. When the recipient gets your message, he will be able to open the attached file and view it using the program in which it was created (assuming he has that program available to him). Alternately, he could save it directly to a local drive and look at it later. To attach a file:
  1. While in the message composition window, click on the Attach button on the Toolbar. This will pop up the Attach menu.
  2. Click File... (now directly below the Attach button) on the pop-up menu.
  3. Use the file dialog box to find the name of the file you wish to attach. This dialog box will operate much like when you search for a file to open in Word or other Windows-based programs.
  4. Click on the file name to highlight it once you find it.
  5. Click on the Open button in the dialog box. (This will not visibly open the file-- just add it as an attachment.)

Note: When the attach dialog box closes, you'll see that the header area in the composition window has changed views. Instead of seeing the names of the recipients, you'll probably see the names of the attachments. To return to the recipients view:
  1. Look for the three tabs to the left of the header area
  2. Click on the top tab (it should have an image of a file box on it resembling the one on the address button on the tool bar)
