Netscape Messenger
Overview
.......... Oakton's e-mail program, Netscape Messenger, is part of the Netscape Communicator integrated suite of Internet/web programs. Messenger will seamlessly handle all your e-mail needs. You can use this single program to exchange messages with other Oaktonites and people all over the world.

The purpose of this on-line guide is to acquaint the user with Messenger's functions. The contents are listed in a menu to the left of the screen. When you click on an item in that menu, the instructions will appear in this section of the screen. The menu will always remain to the left so you can flip through the guide easily.

First-time users should definitely go through the menu catagory called "The Basics." While the information found under "Level II" and "Level III" is handy and will make your use of the program more efficient, "The Basics" may be sufficient initially for the average user.

Netscape at Oakton was upgraded from v4.0 to v4.51 May, 1999. The instructions and graphics in this guide have been updated to reflect the changes incurred by this upgrade. For an overview of the changes that the new version brings, go to A Guide to the Netscape Messenger Upgrade

There is also an FAQ with this guide. We encourage users to check the FAQ and submit new questions to dannf@oakton.edu.
