The following is important information for students logging into Oakton computers, the myOakton portal and email.

Beginning in Spring 2006, the format for student login IDs (including WebCT IDs and Oakton email addresses) will be:

<first initial><up to first seven letters of the last name><last four digits of your Banner ID*>

For example, a student named George Washington with Banner ID: B01234567, would have the Oakton login ID gwashing4567.

* Your Banner ID number is assigned by the College. It will appear on your bill and your instructor's class roster.

Initial passwords for new users will now be one of two possibilities:

  • Those who applied to Oakton with a paper form will use their birthdate in 6-digit format. For example, a birth date of December 25, 1975 would create the password 122575.
  • Those who applied to Oakton using the online form will use the 6-digit password they created at that time.

Note that if you attended Oakton prior to Spring 2006 nothing has changed except that your previous
Oakstar ID has been converted to a Banner ID by adding a 0 after the first letter. Your login ID and
password remain unchanged.

"Location" (used when logging in on campus) is now the last digit of the Banner ID.
