- Your Oakton Library ID card is also your Oakton Student ID
card. There is no charge for processing your ID card. Apply
for your card at the Circulation Desk in the Oakton Library.
You will need a current driver's license or state identification
card, a copy of your current, detailed class schedule, and your
address listing from your MyOakton account.
- Checkout period is three weeks. Renew in person, over the
phone, or in "My Account" in the Oakton Community
College Library Catalog (see 12 Easy Steps to Using "My
Account" to Renew Books below). There is no limit on
the number of books you may borrow.

- There is a thirty-day grace period for overdue books. After
that, the charge is $5.00 per item. The lost book charge is
the cost of the book plus $10 processing fee and overdue fine
if over 30 days.

12 Easy Steps to Using "My Account"
to Renew Books
WHAT CAN I DO IN "MY ACCOUNT"?
- See a list of items you have checked out ("Charged Items").
- Renew books (if permitted by the lending library).
- See what books you have requested ("Request Information").
- Cancel book requests. (If "In Transit" or "In Process," book
requests cannot be cancelled.)
- See what fines you owe ("Fines and Fees").
- Verify your personal information (address, phone, email address,
etc.).
HOW DO I USE "MY ACCOUNT"?
- Go to the Oakton Community College webpage at http://www.oakton.edu
- Follow these steps:

- #1 Click on Library

- #2 Click on Books

- #3 Click on Oakton Community College Library

- #4 Click on My Account (button in the middle of
the dark green search bar at the top of the screen)

- Then follow steps 5-12 below:
- #5 Type in your Oakton Library card 14 digit ID number
that is printed on your library card.
- Click
here for instructions on how to get a library card.
- #6 Type your last name in the "Last Name"
box.
- #7 Click on Login.
- #8 Scroll down through your list of books on loan to
you to view due dates.
- #9 Check the box in front of each book you want to
renew.
- #10 Click on "Renew Selected Items"
- #11 Scroll down through your list of books to see which
ones have been renewed. Any books not renewed or not renewable
must be returned by the due date. Call the circulation desk
number below if you have any question about whether a book has
been renewed or is renewable.
- #12 Be sure to click on Logout and close
your browser when you are finished with "My Account."
